Consortium Changes

18/12/2015

After the approval by the EU commission of the amendment to the proposal, Trinity College Dublin has officially left the project and it has been substituted by the National Physical Laboratory and the University of the Basque Country. The key researchers carrying out the work will still be Dr. Ivan Rungger and Dr. Andrea Droghetti, who have respectively moved from Trinity College Dublin to the National Physical Laboratory and the University of the Basque Country.

New ACMOL publication!

20/04/2015

As a result of a joint collaboration between the partners of ACMOL we have recently published “Kondo Effect in a Neutral and Stable All Organic Radical Single Molecule Break Junction” in Nano Letters. In this paper we show how the unpaired spin of the organic radical molecules is preserved when we link the molecule to metallic electrodes in a transistor-like solid state configuration.
We can prove this thanks to the detection of a zero-bias resonance in the conductance measurements through individual molecules. Such a peak is originated by Kondo screening due to the coupling between the unpaired spin in the molecule and the spins of the electrons flowing through it. Interestingly, we demonstrate that the Kondo feature and therefore the unpaired spin of the molecules is very robust under mechanical and electrical variations in the environment. See the link for more details about the experiments.

ELECspin 2015: International Workshop on Organic and Graphene ELECtronics and SPINtronics

11/03/2015

The ELECspin 2015 workshop: International Workshop on Organic and Graphene ELECtronics and SPINtronics took place in Barcelona last 12th and 13th March. It has been a great experience to share and discuss scientific results with the participants of the workshop. The ACMOL team was there and it was a very good opportunity to address the progress of the project and to bring new ideas.
